The Grosse Pointe Skating Club was started in 1973, and is a member of the United States Figure Skating Association. Anyone registered with the G.P.S.C. is automatically registered with U.S. Figure Skating and given the right to test compete or skate in shows (locally or nationally) sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating. We have group lessons available from ages 5 and up. We accept a limited number of 4 year olds on a trial basis if they are able to stand up and move unassisted. We accept adults provided there are enough to constitute a class.

Our classes are held on Wednesdays from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M., and Saturdays from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M.. Classes begin with 15 minutes of warm up skating, including group stroking, then 35 minutes of group instruction followed by 10 minutes of free time. We have 4 separate sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Late Spring) usually starting at the end of September and running through the middle of May. Sessions run 8 weeks in length (Late Spring session are held on Wednesdays only and run for 7 weeks) and cost $80.00 per student plus a $10.00 annual fee. There will be a $10.00 late fee added to anyone registering after the due date. No refunds or "make-ups" are given for any absences. We need all students to please check in at the front desk at the beginning of class on the first day of a new session. The 7th week of a session is our Test Day in which students are evaluated on there learned skills. Since no "make-ups" are available, if possible, please let us know if your child will be absent on Test Day. The 8th week is our Awards Day which we like to be a fun time for our skaters. We will have a guest skater performing and lessons will be shorter to allow for more free time. Also, skaters are allowed to bring one friend with them to there skating class on this day. Most importantly, students will received there badges or certificates from the prior week's testing on this day.

Each session we will be selling raffle tickets at the front desk for $5.00 each for a chance to win a free skating session. The drawing will be held on the 7th week, at the beginning of Test Day. The winning ticket must be used on the following skating session.

Summer ice is also available for group lessons and/or practice or private lessons. This session is held on Tuesday from the middle of June to the beginning of August. Group lessons run from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M.; Practice ice runs from 5:00 - 6:00 P.M.. Ice fee is $90.00; this DOES NOT include the cost for private lessons. If you would like to use this time for private lessons, please contact the instructor of your choice to make arrangements (a list of instructors is available upon request). "Walk-ons" are available on a first come first serve basis at $10.00 per person, per week and must be United States Figure Skating Association members (proof of membership required). All skaters must check in at the front desk at the beginning of each week before entering on to the ice.

Class size and enrollment is limited on all sessions. Early registration is encouraged. Registration will close when classes are full regardless of due date. No candy, gum, food, drinks. hockey sticks or non students are allowed on the ice. If you would like to talk to an instructor, please do so before or after ice time. Failure to cooperate with each other or any instructor or to follow the rules may result in removal from the ice and/or loss of ice privileges.

WE REQUIRE PROPER FITTING HELMETS FOR ALL SNOWPLOW AND BASIC LEVEL SKATERS. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND PROPPER HELMETS FOR ALL FREESTYLE AND ADULT LEVEL SKATERS.
